As the Spring Festival approached, the International Education College extended its warmest care to international students staying on campus over the winter break. On the morning of January 30, college leaders—including Party Secretary Shao Jiasheng, Dean Feng Lixin, and Vice Deans Hao Gang and Wu Ying—visited the international student dormitories to join students in festive activities and celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year together.
Secretary Shao Jiasheng noted that the Spring Festival is China’s most important traditional holiday, encouraging students to embrace the festive atmosphere on campus and explore Chinese culture during the break. Dean Feng Lixin extended New Year greetings and engaged in conversations with students about their academic plans and cultural experiences, reaffirming the college’s commitment to providing full support for their success and well-being.
The college leaders presented students with festive gift packages. A variety of traditional folk games were organised on campus, including hoop toss, pitch-pot, and a game inspired by agrarian culture. These activities offered students an immersive experience of traditional Chinese festivities and created a lively, joyful atmosphere.

HABLE, a student from Ethiopia, shared, “This is my first Spring Festival in China. Every experience has given me a deeper understanding of Chinese culture. The teachers care for us like family. In the new year, I hope to continue improving my Chinese while exploring more of China.”
CEVIN, a student from Tanzania, added, “Although I stayed on campus during the break, the activities made me feel at home. I’m especially drawn to traditional Chinese culture. Last year I tried writing couplets and paper-cutting; this year I enjoyed the traditional games. I’m gaining not just knowledge, but also a real appreciation for Chinese culture. I hope to contribute to cultural exchange between Tanzania and China through my studies.”

This Spring Festival event reflected the university’s commitment to its international students, offering them a genuine experience of traditional Chinese culture and a strong sense of belonging during the holiday. Students expressed their gratitude and their determination to study hard and serve as ambassadors for cross-cultural exchange.
Moving forward, the College of International Education will continue to enhance student services and organize cultural activities to help international students integrate into campus life and foster meaningful cultural exchange.
