From March 10 to 12, 2026, a delegation of programme directors from University College Dublin (UCD) visited Guangzhou Dublin International College of Life Sciences and Technology to strengthen educational collaboration and enhance teaching and student development. The delegation included Professor Olaf Schmidt, Professor James Lyng, and Associate Professor Chenguang Li.

During the visit, college leaders Feng Lixin and Hao Gang held in-depth discussions with the UCD team on curriculum design, academic management, and research collaboration. A meeting of the college’s Academic Committee was also held, bringing together the UCD delegation and representatives from several schools at South China Agricultural University. Discussions focused on discipline development, joint research projects, and optimising talent cultivation programmes.

Subject-specific meetings were conducted to explore core curriculum alignment, research pathways, and practical teaching approaches. Chinese and Irish programme directors shared insights on enhancing teaching quality and student assessment.

The delegation also attended a meeting of the College Student-Staff Liaison Committee, engaging directly with student representatives who shared feedback on their learning experiences. UCD representatives provided detailed information on one-year exchange programmes and postgraduate application processes.

This visit strengthened ties between faculty members on both sides, established an effective platform for communication, and laid a solid foundation for deeper research collaboration and teaching quality improvement. The Institute will continue to advance its comprehensive partnership with UCD to further enhance the quality of its Sino-foreign cooperative education and contribute to the cultivation of globally competitive talent.
