On the afternoon of March 16, 2023, Paula McGarry, Director of the China Joint Office of University College Dublin, Ireland, led a cultural experience tour for the students of Guangzhou Dublin International College (GDIC). Vice Provost of GDIC Dr. Francis Li, as well as Dr. Anthony Twamley and Dr. Zixia Huang and other faculty members attended the event.

At the outset of the activity, Director Paula commenced by showcasing videos depicting UCD campus activities and local festivals, followed by an exposition on Ireland's traditional festival - St. Patrick's Day (St. Patrick's Day) and its associated customs, thereby acquainting students with the vibrant campus life at University College Dublin and the simple yet passionate social traditions of Ireland.

During the activity, Director Paula introduced the whistle, a traditional Irish instrument, and provided instruction on how to play it. The students also engaged in practicing the whistle and playing a simple melody. Furthermore, they were introduced to the traditional music and characteristic dances of Ireland. Immersed in the cheerful melodies and light dance steps, the students experienced the simple folk customs and joyful daily life of Ireland without traveling to Ireland.
