The Guangzhou Dublin International College of Life Sciences and Technology (GDIC) convened the first semester meeting of the teacher-student Liaison Committee meeting for the 2023-2024 academic year on September 27, 2023. The attendees included Professor Chenguang Li (Vice Provost of GDIC); Professor Hao Gang (Vice Dean of GDIC); Professor Olaf Schmidt (Biological Sciences); Professor James Lyng (Food Quality and Safety); Professor Caroline Elliotte-Kingston (Horticulture); Professor Zhu Guohui (Vice Dean of the School of Life Sciences); Professor Zhong Qingping (Vice Dean of the School of Food Sciences); Professor Wu Zhenxian (Vice dean of the School of Horticulture); Ms. Agnieszka King (project supervisor) and Head of the Sino-Foreign Cooperation office as well as 24 student representatives from cohorts 20 to 23 across four majors.
During the meeting, student representatives and professional directors discussed challenges encountered in academic studies and also provided suggestions on curriculum, examinations, homework assignments, and other related matters. The student representatives also raised inquiries regarding graduation and career planning, which were addressed in detail by Vice Dean Hao Gang and Vice Provost Chenguang Li.
The students also expressed their appreciation to the teachers for their dedication. They emphasized that the teacher-student Liaison Committee has facilitated opportunities for students to engage in direct communication with professional directors and program leaders, as well as to promptly report any challenges encountered during their academic study to the college. Finally they expressed a hope to sustain such opportunities in the future.
