In order to further advance the development of Guangzhou Dublin International College of Life Sciences and Technology (GDIC) and deepen the collaboration between the two institutions, a delegation of five individuals including Dolores O'Riordan (Vice Chancellor of University College Dublin, Ireland), Paul Fanning (Provost of Dublin International College, China) and Aifric O'Sullivan (Deputy Minister for International Affairs at the Faculty of Health and Agricultural Sciences) visited GDIC on the afternoon of November 23rd, 2023. The delegation was warmly received by Mr. Shao Jiasheng (Secretary of the Party Committee at GDIC) Prof. Hao Gang (Vice Dean of GDIC , as well as relevant staff from the Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Office.
After the arrival of Vice Chancellor Dolores O'Riordan and her delegation at the College, they were showed around by student representatives for a visit of the College. The students provided a comprehensive overview of the college's history, faculty, teaching and research, as well as its campus culture, showcasing its strengths and unique characteristics. Vice Chancellor Dolores O'Riordan commended the students' presentation and praised the College's achievements.
Subsequently, the delegation engaged in a communication meeting with the faculty of the College. During the meeting, Prof. Hao Gang warmly welcomed the delegation and them provided an overview of Guangzhou Dublin International College of Life Sciences and Technology, reviewing the enrollment situation, teaching activities, and development of the College in recent years. The two parties had comprehensive discussions on educational management, personnel training, scientific research collaboration, and other relevant matters.
Vice Chancellor Dolores O'Riordan also conducted an interactive session with student representatives from three majors at GDIC, during which the students expressed their opinions and feelings. Vice Rector Dolores O'Riordan affirmed that the faculty will earnestly consider the students' suggestions and continually enhance and optimize teaching and administrative services to facilitate the high-quality development of the College.
The visit of the ViceChancellor of University College Dublin has injected fresh momentum into the collaboration between the two institutions. Both parties have expressed their commitment to furthering practical cooperation across various fields and enhancing the quality and standard of international education. We will maintain close communication, expand collaborative areas, elevate partnership levels, and collectively advance international education development. Simultaneously, the faculty and the students will be offered a broader academic perspective and more opportunities for international exchange, driving the collaboration towards higher global objectives.
