Biography
Xia Rui is a Professor and Doctoral supervisor who has been selected as a national talent project participant and recognized as an Excellent Teacher in Southern Guangdong under the Guangdong special support plan for scientific and technological innovation leaders. He holds a Doctoral degree in Horticulture from Virginia Tech University, USA, and currently serves as the academic leader of the State Key Laboratory of Conservation and Utilization of Subtropical Agricultural Biological Resources and the Key Laboratory of Horticultural Crop Biology and Germplasm Creation in South China of the Ministry of Agriculture. His long-term research focus is on non-coding RNA in horticultural plants, particularly the biosynthesis and regulation mechanism of small molecule RNA, resulting in internationally leading research outcomes. His current research utilizes bioinformatics, genomics, and molecular biology to investigate flower sex determination mechanisms in sapindaceae as well as the regulation of main fruit development in southern China. Additionally, he has authored over 40 SCI papers published in prestigious academic journals such as Nature Communication, Genome Biology, The Plant Cell, Molecular Biology & Evolution.
Research Interests
His long-term research focus is on non-coding RNA in horticultural plants, particularly the biosynthesis and regulation mechanism of small molecule RNA, resulting in internationally leading research outcomes. His current research utilizes bioinformatics, genomics, and molecular biology to investigate flower sex determination mechanisms in sapindaceae as well as the regulation of main fruit development in southern China.
